Last year I had the most amazing experience of sharing my story of dealing with Postnatal Depression on CCfm, a local Christian radio station in Cape Town. The DJ’s of the morning show, ‘Breakfast with Friends’, had been asking listeners to come on the show and to share their testimony of what God was doing in their lives.
As I listened to the DJ ask for people to come on radio to share, I felt God say: “Contact them. Tell them that you will share.”
Me: “What Lord?! Are you serious? I’m not strong enough to go live in front of thousands of people. What do I even tell them? My story is still unfolding.”
God: “My daughter, I God your Father and your Lord Jesus Christ, will give you grace and peace as you share your story:
All praise must go to God, the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ. God is your merciful Father and the source of all comfort. 4 He comforted you in all your troubles with Postnatal Depression so that you can comfort others. When they are troubled, you will be able to give them the same comfort God has given you.” (2 Corinthians 1:2&3) (Above scripture personalised.)
Me: “Okay Lord. I will do it, but you better give me the words to speak! I have been silent for so long, curled up under my dark cloud. I don’t know what to say….what if I get stage fright in the middle of the interview?”
God: “Remember what I told Moses? I am the God who made your tongue. Surely I will give you words to speak?”
Me: “Ok, I will do it. But I better Whatsapp them NOW before I chicken out..
